DescriptionTamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 Nikon Z (full frame & APS-C) description

Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 Nikon Z (full frame & APS-C). World's smallest and lightest telephoto lens with fast F2.8 aperture and amazing performance! The 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 (model A065) is the second generation "G2" successor to the highly acclaimed A056. The new model retains its fast F2.8 aperture and 180mm telephoto, while achieving the world's smallest size and lightest weight in its class. The optical design has been completely reworked to maintain the highest level of mobility. The precision combination of special glass, including XLD and LD lens elements, delivers uncompromising optical performance throughout the zoom range. With the 70-180mm F2.8 G2, TAMRON has pushed rendering performance and miniaturization to the limit - advances that enhance the pleasure of capturing the world around you.

FAST AND PRECISE AF AND IMPROVED TRACKING PERFORMANCE PLUS VC MECHANISM

The AF drive continues to use the VXD4 linear motor focusing mechanism, which combines class-leading speed and precision for fast and accurate focusing. The precise calculations used to update the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 (A067) and 150-500mm F5-6.7 (A057) have been reworked to improve tracking of moving subjects, ensuring you never miss the action, whether shooting stills or video. In addition, the 70-180mm F2.8 G2 is equipped with TAMRON's VC5 mechanism. This suppresses camera shake, which tends to occur when shooting at the telephoto end, during close focusing or in low-light conditions, for sharper results.

MINIMUM FOCUSING DISTANCE OF 0.3 M OPENS UP NEW POSSIBILITIES

Shooting at close distances, which was only possible with manual focusing with the 1st generation model, is now possible with autofocus with the 70-180mm F2.8 G2. TAMRON has succeeded in reducing the MOD to 0.3m at 70mm. At 70mm, the working distance is 12cm and the maximum magnification ratio is 1:2.6. This expands the possibilities for expression with a single lens.

COMPATIBLE WITH TAMRON LENS UTILITY SOFTWARE

The 70-180mm F2.8 G2 is compatible with the TAMRON Lens Utility software developed by TAMRON. TAMRON Lens Utility allows users to change lens settings, assign camera body functions and update firmware when necessary. Users can customise functions for different shooting styles in still photography and video for a more personalised and fulfilling shooting experience.

1. How to choose the right lens for a mirrorless camera?

When choosing the right lens for a mirrorless camera, it is important to consider your photography needs and style. First, decide on the resolution and focusing distance you require. For portraits, lenses with a wide aperture, such as a 50mm f/1.8, are often preferred. If you enjoy landscapes, go for a wide-angle lens (e.g., 24mm). To capture distant objects, telephoto lenses (e.g., 70-200mm) are useful. Another important factor is the lens’s light-gathering ability, which affects performance in low-light conditions. A stabilization system can also be important, especially for longer lenses. It’s important to evaluate the build quality of the lens and the manufacturer's reputation. Try out several lenses and consider your future needs to choose the right and long-lasting investment in your photography.

2. Are all lenses compatible with all mirrorless cameras?

Not all lenses are universal for all mirrorless cameras. Different manufacturers may have different mounts, so it is important to check the lens compatibility with your camera. For example, lenses for Canon, Nikon, Sony, and other manufacturers' mirrorless cameras may not be interchangeable without adapters. It is also important to consider the sensor size. APS-C lenses may be disproportionately large for full-frame cameras. Before purchasing a lens, it is advisable to check the manufacturer's compatibility chart and consider the specific requirements of your camera. Adapters can allow the use of third-party lenses, but there may be some loss in functionality or quality.
