Design

The versatility of the zoom design is complemented by the Vibration Compensation image stabilisation system, which reduces camera shake for more stable photo and video recording in low-light conditions. The RXD stepper motor delivers fast and near-silent autofocus, as well as full-time manual focus override and a minimum focus distance of 7.5". Suitable for use in harsh weather conditions, this lens also features a moisture-resistant construction and a fluorine-coated front element to protect against fingerprints and smudges.

Ultra-high brightness and precision

A bright constant f/2.8 maximum aperture ensures consistent sharpness throughout the zoom range and improves depth of field control. Two molded glass aspherical elements and one hybrid aspherical element help to correct distortion and spherical aberrations for a high degree of sharpness and accurate imaging. Two LD (low dispersion) elements significantly reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range for improved clarity and colour accuracy.

BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating has been applied to individual elements to suppress internal reflections, flares and duplication for greater contrast and colour accuracy in high light conditions.
