DescriptionPanasonic Lumix 45-150mm F/4-5.6 G Vario ASPH Mega OIS description

The LUMIX G Vario 45-150mm f/4.0-5.6 ASPH Lens - Black from Panasonic is a versatile medium zoom range lens designed for the Panasonic Lumix G series DSLM (Mirrorless) cameras and is especially functional when shooting video with your camera. With a 35mm format equivalency of 90-300mm, it is a great lens to have for shooting nature, kids at play, street shots and portraits. For its extensive zoom range it comes in a compact, light-weight body that is easily carried and installed on your G series camera.
The lens is comprised of 12 optical elements in 9 groups with one UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens and two aspherical lenses to minimize distortion and heighten sharpness. The seven aperture blades produce smooth, attractive out-of-focus areas and a multi-coated lens element allows light to pass more directly to the sensor, which reduces flaring.
The Lumix G Vario 45-150mm includes a stepping motor system which makes the focusing action smoother and almost silent which is ideal when shooting video, as you want the smooth focus transitions and do not want to record a zooming sound on top of your recorded audio. The inner focus system of this lens produces excellent resolution and contrast and utilizes the high-speed, high-precision Contrast Auto Focus system when used with the Lumix G Micro System line of cameras. Also incorporated into this lens is Panasonic's MEGA O.I.S. which is an optical image stabilizer that neutralizes the effect of camera shake when shooting in low light or with high zoom.
  • 90-300mm equivalent focal length provides medium zoom range for everyday photo and video shooting
  • MEGA O.I.S. offers optical image stabilization for sharp images in high zoom or low light situations
  • A Stepping Motor focusing action provides smooth and silent auto-focus, ideal for shooting video
  • This compact zoom lens is comprised of 12 elements in 9 groups including 2 aspherical elements and one UHR (Ultra High Refractive) element
  • Compatible with the full line of Lumix G series cameras

1. How to choose the right lens for a mirrorless camera?

When choosing the right lens for a mirrorless camera, it is important to consider your photography needs and style. First, decide on the resolution and focusing distance you require. For portraits, lenses with a wide aperture, such as a 50mm f/1.8, are often preferred. If you enjoy landscapes, go for a wide-angle lens (e.g., 24mm). To capture distant objects, telephoto lenses (e.g., 70-200mm) are useful. Another important factor is the lens’s light-gathering ability, which affects performance in low-light conditions. A stabilization system can also be important, especially for longer lenses. It’s important to evaluate the build quality of the lens and the manufacturer's reputation. Try out several lenses and consider your future needs to choose the right and long-lasting investment in your photography.

2. Are all lenses compatible with all mirrorless cameras?

Not all lenses are universal for all mirrorless cameras. Different manufacturers may have different mounts, so it is important to check the lens compatibility with your camera. For example, lenses for Canon, Nikon, Sony, and other manufacturers' mirrorless cameras may not be interchangeable without adapters. It is also important to consider the sensor size. APS-C lenses may be disproportionately large for full-frame cameras. Before purchasing a lens, it is advisable to check the manufacturer's compatibility chart and consider the specific requirements of your camera. Adapters can allow the use of third-party lenses, but there may be some loss in functionality or quality.
