Buteo Photo Gear Snoot / Lens Cover Green for Mark III
Buteo Photo Gear offers an optional matching snoot as a replacement for the original photo window of the Buteo Mark III Green and the Aquila Mark III Green.
The snoot has the advantage that it additionally camouflages your lens with the same waterproof fabric and camouflage pattern as the tent (Polyester 150D), and also protects your lens well from precipitation and dust. Another added benefit is that your hands are less likely to be visible when operating the camera.
The snoot fits perfectly in any photo window, can be easily zipped in, and has its own viewing window at the top with fixed insert net. This viewing window can also be fully or partially closed on the inside, and can be made larger or smaller as desired with a zip that can be operated from two sides.
The larger insect net in the tent can be zipped down when using the snoot, but can also be used as is, as your lens goes through it.Finally, you can also use the outer polyester fabric in bad weather. It has a zip through which you put the lens, with the zip you then close the fabric so that you and your equipment have maximum protection from precipitation (see also photos).

1. How to protect your camera from rain and is special protective equipment necessary?
Protecting your camera from rain is important because water can damage the internal components of the equipment. Special protective gear, such as a rain cover or waterproof case, can be useful in extreme weather conditions. These protections can shield your camera from direct rain exposure and help prevent potential damage. It’s important to store your camera in a dry place when not in use. Regardless of the protection used, it is recommended to regularly maintain and clean your camera, especially if it has been used in the rain or in humid conditions, to avoid corrosion and loss of durability.
2. What are the best tools to protect the lens from rain when shooting outdoors?
The best tools to protect the lens from rain are special lens covers or umbrellas. Lens covers are made of flexible, water-resistant material. These covers shield the lens but still allow free shooting. Umbrellas provide protection against raindrops. To protect the lens from rain while shooting outdoors, it’s best to use special lens covers. Waterproof protections, such as silicone covers, allow you to protect the lens from rain while still providing easy use of the camera. Additionally, you can use special sprays that help repel water from the lens surface. This ensures that even in rainy weather, you can create high-quality photos without risking damage to expensive photography equipment.
